The triplet yield in 1-nitronaphthalene was measured by an energy-transfer technique using cis-piperylene (ref 21). It has been mentioned before by Anderson et al. (ref 11) that a small reduction in the value considered as the fraction of piperylene triplets which produce the trans isomer would make the 1-nitonapthalene triplet yield close to unity.
