    • In a more recent paper (Chem. Phys. 2006, 326, 252-258, Bixon and Jortner suggest an explanation for the flat distance dependence of attenuation after three A's, attributing it to the edge A sites next to G and GGG having different energies from the rest of the A sites. These sites would then serve as barriers to keep injected charges inside what would appear to them as an extended shallow trap. Although this idea might account for the relatively flat distance dependence of attenuation, it could not account for many other notable observations: delocalized hole wave functions,7 the minimum in-transit time for a hole injected into a sequence of N A's for N ≈ 4,8 and Schuster's experiments, such as those in ref 9, where in a sequence such as (AGGA)n the results are clearly not explainable by A-hopping or G-hopping
