    • Simple application of Eyring's theory of chemical and physicochemical reactions shows that the frequency ratio between control events and those involving LPC (or AA) is directly related to an energetic variation of the pore stability within a range between 1 and 2 kT (stabilization for LPC and destabilization for AA). This compares well with previous thermodynamic data reported for artificial systems. Thus, incorporation of LPC into artificial phospholipidic membranes induces thermodynamic variations ranging between 0.2 and 4 kT. See: N. Fuller, R. P. Rand, Biophys. J. 2001, 81, 243-254.

    • note
    • max is larger with LPC (conversely, smaller with AA) than under control conditions, the accuracy of the determination of Q given a fixed noise, might lead to erroneous observations. This is not the case here. This conclusion is based on a full statistical analysis not shown in this paper.
