    • Although supported ionic liquid catalysis has been investigated recently, there are no examples of the combination of silica-supported metal catalysts with ionic liquids. It is reported that silica gel supported ionic liquids and additional nonsupported ionic liquids form ionic-liquid phases on the surface of silica gel owing to interactions between supported and nonsupported ionic liquids.
