This precludes simulations in the range 0.95<Ω<1.05 for Ω0 =0.5, since the small (but nonzero) initial displacement of the center of mass leads to the condensate rapidly spiralling out of the numerical grid. On the other hand, for Ω0 =0 the initial displacement is very close to zero, so that the instability is less of a problem over applicable time scales, and simulations are possible in this range.
