    • Periodic boundary conditions (PBC) in the lab frame would stop the rotation of the noncondensed gas. We checked that PBC in the rotating frame do not set a pure condensate into rotation as the condensate density is negligible at the grid borders. The harmonic trap anisotropy is then crucial for the vortex formation at T = 0 by triggering the dynamic instability of [10].
