    • The ramp lasts for 75 periods of the final frequency and so dΩ/dt never exceeds 2π 550 Hz/s. We checked that at this maximum rate the condensate follows adiabatically the branches in Fig. 1. On the other hand, the frequency ramp is fast enough so that the center of mass instability does not have enough time to develop during the time that Ω̃ spends in the instability region [1 - ∈/2, 1 + ∈/2].
