Aerobic exercise training improves insulin sensitivity without changes in body weight, body fat, adiponectin and inflammatory markers in overweight and obese girls
-
Nassis GP, Papantakou K, Skenderi K, et al. Aerobic exercise training improves insulin sensitivity without changes in body weight, body fat, adiponectin and inflammatory markers in overweight and obese girls. Metabolism 2005; 54:1472-1479. ••This study examined the effect of aerobic training on insulin resistance in overweight youths. Very limited data exist on this issue. Aerobic exercise training improved insulin sensitivity, as assessed by the OGTT, in these girls. This effect was without change in body fat and other factors that might influence insulin effect on glucose metabolism.
