Differential regulation of membrane-associated mucins in the human ocular surface epithelium
-
Hori Y, Spurr-Michaud S, Russo CL, et al. Differential regulation of membrane-associated mucins in the human ocular surface epithelium. Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci 2004, 45:112-117. This interesting article shows that autologous serum and retinoic acid are helpful in upregulating mucin production in human ocular surface epithelium. These data also suggest that P2Y2 type inhibitors may become useful adjuncts in the treatment of dry eye disease.
