Spectroscopic pH titrations of 1 and 2 showed that the color changes similar to those seen above only occurred in alkaline pH. See Figures S12 and S13 for 1 and 2, respectively. These changes were fully reversible. Also note that the changes occurring in Figure 3 all took place in a pH window well below that seen in Figures S12 and S13.
