    • The modification of the Fluoromax-3 spectrofluorometer consists in the Peltier-cooling down to -10°C of the detector photomultiplier (PMT, Hamamatsu R928P) located in a housing (with external water circuit) outside of the Fluoromax-3. The exit slit of the monochromator is focused on the PMT photocathode by an optimized toric mirror.

    • It is of interest to note here that the maximum of the main band in the absorption spectrum of the ICT state of DMABN in MeCN is at a longer wavelength (320 nm, refs. [6,51]) than that of the benzonitrile radical anion (314 nm) in the similar aprotic solvent dimethylformamide (ref. [53]). Such a rather small difference is not too surprising, in view of the presence of the electronically coupled (ref. [9]) dimethyl-amino group in DMABN.
