[6] Based on these results, one can estimate that about 250 oligonucleotides of each kind are attached to the particle's surface (i.e., a total number of about 500 oligomers per 40 nm AuNP). The maximum binding efficiency of the antibody-DNA conjugate 7 was determined to be about 32-64 equivalents (Figure S1 in the Supporting Information), which suggests that about 32-64 antibody molecules are attached to the AuNP. Moreover, these data indicate a hybridization efficiency of conjugate 7 of about 13-25%. These numbers are in agreement with hybridization efficiency data reported by others (L. M. Demers, C. A. Mirkin, R. C. Mucic, R. A. Reynolds, R. L. Letsinger, R. Elghanian, G. Viswanadham, Anal. Chem. 2000, 72, 5535-5541.
