Kim et al. reported that amylose-coated SWNTs give twisted structures about 30-nm diameter (Ref 5b). Taking its large diameter and loosely twisted SEM and AFM images into consideration, the observed twisted fibrils would not be the amylose polymer chain but the aggregated bundles of amylose-SWNT composites. In the present system, on the other hand, we can confirm that the helical structures are constructed by β-1,3-glucan polymer chain.
