A high-resolution linkage-disequilibrium map of the human major histocompatibility complex and first generation of tag single-nucleotide polymorphisms
-
M.M. Miretti, E.C. Walsh, X. Ke, M. Delgado, M. Griffiths, S. Hunt, J. Morrison, P. Whittaker, E.S. Lander, and L.R. Cardon A high-resolution linkage-disequilibrium map of the human major histocompatibility complex and first generation of tag single-nucleotide polymorphisms Am J Hum Genet 76 2005 634 646 This is the first high-resolution (1.9Kb) LD map of the human MHC in large pedigrees, and the first generation of tagSNP polymorphisms that provide up to a 5x increase in genotyping efficiency. It sets the standard for future MHC-linked disease association studies. The data are consistent with previous recombination hotspots in class II gene clusters and predict those in class I and class III gene clusters. Extended haplotype homozygosity (EHH) analysis, which indicates recent positive selection, identifies 14 such markers on a single extended haplotype bearing HLA-DRB1*1501. The graphic illustrations of LD, especially the long region over the olfactory receptor gene cluster (OLFR) genes, are superb.

Zoorob Characterisation of a cluster of TRIM-B30.2 genes in the chicken MHC B locus Immunogenetics 57 2005 116 128 Any genes in the chicken MHC are potentially of interest, as it appears to contain only the minimal, essential set of loci.
