This prospective study of incident dementia among men and women assessed in 1995-1997 and folowed-up in 1998-2000 reported HRT use to be associated with reduced risk of Alzheimer's disease only if use had exceeded 10 years. This has important implications for studies that have assessed outcome after shorter periods.
