A clinical evaluation of the International Lymphoma Study Group classification of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
-
The Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Classification Project: A clinical evaluation of the International Lymphoma Study Group classification of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Blood 1997, 89:3909-3918. A series of 1403 consecutive patients from nine institutions in eight different countries was the subject of histopathologic review and survival analysis. This important study is the first clinical validation of the REAL classification, demonstrating that it allows easy, accurate, and reproducible identification of clinically distinctive lymphoma subtypes.

Willemze R, Kerl H, Sterry W, Berti E, Cerroni L, Chimenti S, Diaz-Perez JL, Geers ML, Goos M, Knobler R, Ralfkiaer E, Santucci M, Smith N, Wechsler J, van Vloten WA, Meijer CJLM: EORTC classification for primary cutaneous lymphomas: a proposal from the Cutaneous Lymphoma Study Group of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer. Blood 1997, 90:354-371. This paper describes the basic principles of a recent proposal for the classification of primary cutaneous lymphomas, as well as the clinical, histopathologic, immunologic, and genetic features of the different entitites. Moreover, survival analysis of a large series of 626 patients illustrates the clinical utility of this new classification.
