    • The 'operational code': A neglected approach to the study of political leaders and decision making
    • Attitudes surrounding issues of force are echoed somewhat in the cognitive operational code construct developed by Nathan Leites and expanded upon by Alexander George. While an operational code refers to the set of beliefs held by decision-makers about how the world works, a security ethic is meant to encompass that aspect particularly concerned with the use of force in international affairs, and can be experienced at the cognitive as well as emotional and ethical levels.
