    • In a previous publication, Shenoy et al. (see Ref. 14) have shown that the decay of a 2D sinusoid smoothly approaches the behavior of a ID sinusoid as one of the wavelengths of the modulation diverges. For the present work, we have also carried out 2D calculations for sputter-ripple systems and found the behavior to be nearly identical to that predicted by the much less computationally intensive 1D analog.
