    • 3 Al electrode from 0.215 K to an effective temperature of less than 0.35 K. That would cause negligible change in the Al energy gap. The estimate of this maximum effective temperature of 0.35 K would apply only if the quasiparticles "cooled" to the gap edge of the Al gap. However, they tunnel before they fully relax their energy, and thus are less effective in reducing the gap than quasiparticles at the gap edge. Thus the reduction of the Al gap due to these quasiparticles is truly negligible.
