    • Note that the data after the dump pulse show significantly less noise than before. We interpret this noise reduction as follows: any random increase of probe pulse energy, due to fluctuations, will translate into an increase of the detected SE signal but at the same time will correspond to an increase in the energy of the dump pulse because probe and dump are derived from the same source. These two effects go in opposite directions and tend to cancel out.
