    • note
    • Fmes is a soft σ-donor ligand with a high trans influence, which facilitates the release of the leaving ligand in an associative ligand substitution, i.e. the high trans influence of Fmes induces a high trans effect by destabilizing the fundamental state. Probably, some π-acceptor contribution in the five-coordinate transition state will further increase the trans effect of Fmes.
