    • Similar values of the amount of energy evolved were obtained by integration of the peak area for all three compounds (155-162 KJ/mol). The large values suggest a radical process initiated by the cyclization process forming the biradical species. On scanning the thermolyzed samples a second time no exothermic features were registered which confirms that an irreversible process has taken place. The increased onset temperature for compound 3 might be explained by decreased product stability.
