Effects of central metal ion (Mg, Zn) and solvent on singlet excited-state energy flow in porphyrin-based nanostructures
-
This work contains a detailed comparison of energy-transfer in supramolecular arrays containing one freebase acceptor porphyrin and up to four Mg- or Zn-substituted donor porphyrins. Direct evidence is presented for the similar photophysics of the two different metal-substituted arrays, and efficient energy transfer is seen in all structures.

Fullerenes in photoconductive polymers: Charge generation and charge transport
-
This paper presents the first detailed model of electric field-driven mobile charge generation in fullerene-doped conducting polymers. Marcus electron-transfer theory, in combination with an Onsager model for disordered transport, are used to fit experimental data for field-dependent photoconductivity. The authors' extension of Marcus' theory to nonpolar solids represents a significant advance for understanding these technologically important materials.

Ultrafast holography in charge transfer polymers
-
This paper presents the first dynamic holography measurements in charge transfer polymers, with two noteworthy results. First, a simple model explains the observed enhancement in diffraction efficiency for non-degenerate four-wave mixing. Second, a combination of efficient diffraction and ultrafast response time is observed for the first time in any material

Photorefractivity in nematic liquid-crystals containing electron donor-acceptor molecules that undergo intramolecular charge separation
-
This paper presents the first evidence that efficient charge separation in liquid-crystalline media can be significantly increased by using charge transfer dopants which have as their first step intramolecular charge transfer, stabilizing the excited-state locally until the field-driven intermolecular charge transfer leads to long-lived charge separation.
