    • Mannosylations were conducted in the presence of a hindered base; 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyridine (DTBMP) or 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylpyrimidine (TTBP). It is possible that omission of base in the BSP protocol would result in coupling with concomitant removal of the PMB, although such a reaction was not attempted here
