24. Sato and co-workers have described the successful synthesis of silylated (diisopropyloxy)titanacyclopropanes, but these compounds are not suitable for further ligand exchange with alkynes: R. Mizojiri, H. Urabe, F. Sato, J. Org. Chem. 2000, 65, 6217-6222. More recently, Eisch et al, have reported the preparation of solutions of (diisopropyloxy)titanacyclopropanes, using a novel method, see ref.[14]
25. When cyclopentylmagnesium chloride (1.2 equiv.) was added to acetophenone (1.0 equiv.) in diethyl ether under the same temperature and time conditions as for the preparation of diol 7, 1-phenylethanol was isolated in 62% yield.
