    • 16,17 of giant unilamellar vesicles which report that DPPC and DLPC form nonideal phase-separated mixtures, where a small fraction of DPPC is present in the DLPC phase. Likewise, compression of the 0.25/0.75 DPPC/DLPC monolayer to higher surface pressure (32 mN/m) can result in the growth of some of the DPPC domains into larger circles. We currently believe that the observed stripes are formed by the alignment and fusion of the smaller DPPC domains during vertical Langmuir-Blodgett deposition.
