    • Typical Experimental Procedure for the Intramolecular Ester Transfer Reaction. Under an argon atmosphere, a solution of n-butyllithium (1.48 M in hexane, 0.81 mL, 1.2 mmol) was added to a solution of zirconocene dichloride (175 mg, 0.6 mmol) in THF (2 mL) at -78°C, and the reaction mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1 h. A solution of compound 3 (0.5 mmol) in THF (2 mL) was added to the reaction mixture at -78°C, and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 1 h. To the reaction mixture was added 4% hydrochloric acid, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate, brine, and dried over magnesium sulfate. After filtration, the filtrate was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography.
