    • It was pointed out in Ref. 13 that, in the absence of intrinsic defects, the Mn-Cd substitution is favored in a large range of growth conditions. However, chalcopyrites exhibit low-energy intrinsic defects. Therefore, Mahadevan and Zunger showed that, depending on the growth conditions, Mn can even substitute Ge and the interaction between Mn and hole-producing defects could stabilize PM.
