    • Covalent disulfides form rapidly in the absence of dithiothreitol (DTT), linking through the terminal PP thiol to either the thiol of C17 or the PP thiol of another holo-ACP. In these forms, ACP is catalytically inactive. The use of a C17S mutant and preincubation with DTT avoids these pitfalls. See ref. [12] for more details.
