16. Effective interlevel scattering rates and lifetimes can be directly sampled from our fully 3D simulated experiments. In this way we can also properly account for the strong balance between in- and out-scattering typical of quasielastic interaction processes. This allows us to translate our microscopic description into the more conventional n-level rate-equation language.
