    • As seen in Figure 2, the physical size of a single Bchl is not much smaller than the distance between neighboring Bchls in the B850 ring. In this case, in calculating the EET interaction between Bchls, it would be more appropriate, than to use the point-dipole approximation of Equation 1, to take into account the spatial extension of wave functions of excited Bchls (for example, as in: Scholes, G.D.; Gould, I.R.; Cogdell, R.J.; Fleming, G.R. J Phys Chem B 1999, 103, 2543). With such a refinement to the EET interaction in Equation 1, however, arguments in the present work remain essentially unchanged.
