At present, several names for this isomer can be spotted in the literature: carbaporphynn, inverted porphyrin, N-confused porphyrin, mutant porphyrin, 2-aza-21-carbaporphyrin, etc. We think the general nomenclature such as 18-porphyrin (1.1.1.1.)-(Cα,N,N,N) for 1 is appropriate to identify the number and position of confused pyrrole among 14 generalized members of the N-confused (1.1.1.1.)-porphyrin series.
