A number of parameters describing the size of phosphorus ligands have been proposed including Coville and White's solid angle (references 76-79), Brown's Er values (references 12-14, 16, 80) and Tolman's cone angles (reference 51). Although Ernst (references 81, 82) has suggested some revision of Tolman's cone angles, we have found that Tolman's values give the best results in regression analyses.
