    • There is a special case where a linear relationship between the two stereoelectronic parameters is not required for a family of ligands. A family of ligands is defined as those ligands that produce a fanshaped array of lines when ΔG°/T is plotted versus 1/T. This case is where the β values are the same for the two parameters. If the β values were the same, the set of 22 ligands would constitute a single family. This is not the case here since we observe multiple families. See refs 15 and 32.
