    • Note: The quantization of thickness occurs even in a sphere-forming diblock copolymer thin film. When the film thickness is intermediate (ca. 200-500 nm), the formation of islands and holes is supressed by surface tension and the internal structure of the layered film is slightly distorted. In a fairly thick film, ∼~1 μm, such distortions are absorbed by small strains of the internal structure and are too small to be detected experimentally. 13
