x/y are the different Hamaker constants. Thus, for the liquid polyolefin mixture on top of a d = 200-nm thick crosslinked polyolefine film, the interactions (at say the midplane of the film at h = 200 nm) are largely due to the crosslinked film and not to the underlying silicon substrate.
