note
-
Energy transfer, and not electron transfer, is almost certainly occurring in 2(n) because, although electrochemical studies suggest that the latter process is 0.3 eV exergonic in n-hexane, the sensitized dione emission in both 2(6) and 2(10) is identical with that of a dione model system lacking the DMN chromophore.
