This review article focuses on macrovascular disease namely coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease in non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance. A variety of cardiovascular risk factors tend to co-segregate in these patients. This article discusses in detail the role of various cardiovascular risk factors in predicting vascular disease in both non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance.
