    • note
    • The data were analyzed by STATISTX (NH Analytical Software, Minneapolis, MN 55414) as a splitplot design with temperature as the whole plot while the sub-plot consisted of the nine treatments. Multiple mean comparisons were done by the method of least significant difference, and significance was set at the 5% level. Regression models were checked by residual plots and the Mallows' Cp values [39]. During the regression analysis, lysine intake was used to represent the total EAA intake. This strategy was valid because the experimental design dictated that the increase in intake of any one of the supplemented EAA was simultaneously accompanied by the increase in intake of the others by the same proportion.
