    • note
    • The data were analyzed as a split-plot design with temperature as the whole plot while the sub-plot consisted of the five dietaiy CP levels in Experiment 1, and the two (dietary CP) x three (amino acid supplementation levels) factorial arrangement in Experiment 2 using a Statistix software program (Statistix, NH Analytical Software, Minneapolis, MN 55414). ANCVA P-values were given for all main effects and interactions. Multiple mean comparisons were done by the method of least significant difference with significance set at 5% level. Regression models were checked by the residual plots and the Mallows' Cp values [36]. The three dimensional graphs of smoothed response surface (SRS) using temperature and dietary CP as the two horizontal axes were done by the smoothing technique of SAS/GRAPH [37].
