This is the first reported phase II clinical trial of inhaled nitric oxide on 177 ARDS patients This randomized placebo-controlled study demonstrated the safety of nitric oxide inhalation and defined the best nitric oxide fraction to use, but failed to suggest any positive effect on outcome.
