    • note
    • This paper was the first to report the development of the approach of administering mixtures of compounds to a single animal and then using the analytical capability of mass spectrometry to analyse the mixtures. This approach has significantly increased the throughput of in vivo studies during the lead optimization stage of drug discovery. Furthermore, this has had an impact on the ethical considerations, reducing the numbers of animals used.
