16. Standard 4-CTP aqueous solutions of different concentrations were prepared in a manner identical to that adopted for capping the metal sols. Thus, the concentration of ethanol in solution is the same in all the cases. A 9:1 (by volume) water/ethanol solution was taken as the reference signal in the UV-vis analysis.
17. LB films were transferred onto hydrophobized quartz substrates in a Nima 611 Langmuir trough at a surface pressure of 25 dyn/cm. 18. EDAX measurements of the LB films were carried out on a JEOL (model JSM-5200) scanning electron microscope equipped wiyth a Kevex energry-dispersive X-ray spectrometer.
