Because of the limited solubility of compound 8 in the reaction solvent employed, the DNA damage induced by the reductively activated 8 appeared to be not so effective as that by reductively activated 7. In separate experiments where 8 was dissolved completely, reductively activated 8 induced as great DNA damage as 7.
43. Reductive activation of higher concentrations of compounds 1, 2, 5, and 6 afforded markedly form II DNA.
44. Essentially no DNA damage was found in the presence of compounds 1-8 without electrolytical reductions.
