Harding JJ: Alzheimer disease and cataract: common threads [letter]. Alzheimer Dis Assoc Disord 1997, 11:123. A proposal that cataract and Alzheimer's disease share not only common features of their etiology but also possibly similar ways to protect against both. If there is to be a major trial of anti-inflammatory therapy for Alzheimer's disease, the trial could readily accommodate a cataract study with little extra expense.
