Attenuation of the obesity syndrome of ob/ob mice by the loss of neuropeptide Y
-
Erickson JC, Hollopeter G, Palmiter RD: Attenuation of the obesity syndrome of ob/ob mice by the loss of neuropeptide Y. Nature 1996, 274:1704-1707. These authors mated transgenic mice lacking NPY with ob/ob mice. The resulting NPY- and leptin-deficient mice were markedly less obese than the ob/ob parental strain. The offspring also had lower serum glucose and insulin levels and were more fertile than the ob/ob parental strain.
