note
-
Prior to the formation of LAAMP, LAUSD had reorganized schools into K-12 complexes. The LAUSD complexes serve an administrative function and were created primarily to promote administrative efficiency. By contrast, LAUSD schools that elected to become school families became part of a reform network whose primary purpose was educational -to improve student performance.

note

It is interesting to note that the teams developed by school families also resemble (in mission and function) teams that organizations in the private sector have created in an effort to produce products and deliver services more effectively to customers.
