5. In addition to Los Angeles, the other major urban Annenberg Challenge sites are Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, and South Florida.
6. Prior to the formation of LAAMP, LAUSD had reorganized schools into K-12 complexes. The LAUSD complexes serve an administrative function and were created primarily to promote administrative efficiency. By contrast, LAUSD schools that elected to become school families became part of a reform network whose primary purpose was educational -to improve student performance.
