Octyl nitrate was prepared from octyl bromide as described above for ω-hexadecenyl nitrate. Photolyses were done on 2.8 mM solutions in HPLC grade isopropyl alcohol. Analyses were done using a HP-Model 5890-5971A GC-MS using a 12 m HP1 (methylsilicone) capillary column and using hexadecane as an internal standard.
