The methodology has been applied to the synthesis of a phenyltetrene-bridged TCF chromophore, which has a μβ of 19161 × 10-48 esu at 1.9 μm in THF and gave 85 pm/V in PMMA composite. A Mach-Zelinder interferometer fabricated from this material requires 0.8 V to achieve a phase shift of φ.
