    • A 5 mg sample of bBSA dissolved in 1 mL of PBS buffer was reacted with 2 mg of 2-iminothiolane·HCl (Sigma) and stored at 4 °C for 2 h with occasional vortex. The resulting solution was filtered through a size-exclusion centrifugal filter device (Micron YM-30, Millipore Corporation, Bedford, MA) and diluted to 1 mL in PBS buffer. 5,5′-Dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (99%, Aldrich) was used to quantify the labeling degree of free thiol groups on the bBSA. A 4 mg amount of this reagent was reacted with 200 μL of the bBSA solution, and the labeling degree was determined from absorbance measurements at 278 and412 nm.
